Now that summer is almost here I have most of my planting done but I’m always trying to think of new ways to update some of my pots! I had an old terracotta pot that just needed something done to it. I didn’t like the way it looked and I wanted something new to go into my apartment! So I decided to come up with some ideas on How to Update an Old Terracotta Pot into Something New, and I will be featuring more in later weeks!
I took my pot and cleaned it up a little. I decided I wanted to do some sort of stripes and I took my painters tape and just went to creating a design!
I used the Frog Tape that you put the Liquid sealer on. I used this on another project and the lines looked a lot better than when I use the cheap painters tape! I let this sit for about 15 minutes and then went to painting.
Once I painted it I let it dry for about an hour to make sure the paint was really dry! I’ve found with painters tape if you let the paint really dry it has cleaner lines! I liked the lines but after I pulled off the tape I wanted something more!
So I went and painted the in between green. It is not perfect but I love the colors! I think it will look great in my apartment! I then had to decide which plant to go in it!
I decided on a succulent I had bought but not put in a planter yet! I think it looks great in my updated terracotta pot and it will match the decor of my apartment well also!
This is a fun idea also for friend that likes to garden! Even if they don’t like to garden you could give them a cactus or a succulent in a decorated pot and they’d have no issues! This is just a fun way to update your decor with something you already have laying around!
