I recently went to a wedding that was a DIY spectacular. The groom’s mom did the whole wedding on less that a shoe string and it turned out fabulous. I want to share some of the DIY wedding ideas with you. My SIL did a great job and I am so proud of her DIY wedding ideas.
The banner on the front of the bride/groom table was wonderful and a great collaboration. One person ruffled the sating and made the roses and discs, while another did the hand lettering. Originally they were going to use printed letters but the hand lettering made all the difference. I thought it was cute before the hand lettering but fell in love when the lettering was changed.
When I first heard about the branches I did not get the vision. When we started decorating and I saw the lit branches I fell in love. The tissue paper poofs were fun to make. Many of them were made the night before the rehearsal dinner by the women in the wedding party. It was a relaxed time for the groom’s family to get to know the fabulous women in the wedding party.
The next DIY wedding idea is want you to see are the doors. They were bought at the Habitat for Humanity Restore in Waco, TX.
Two were painted and propped up in dark corners of the reception hall to add color and light to the room. At the last minute poofs and balloons were added to give the corners height. Another door was used as a sign outside the hall. The whole post can be found here.
My very favorite DIY wedding idea was made by my SIL with love. She embroidered 100 white circles with a border and the bride and grooms initials. What an act of love. She then attached them to thick burlap ribbon and sewed on ribbon. I have not seen anything like this and I loved it.
