This is the fastest and easiest treat idea ever. All it involves is our free printable, some scraps of ribbon and crafting fry boxes. I had looked at the fry boxes at the craft store for several months trying to decide if I needed them. Last week I had a coupon and I could not resist.
Supply List
1. Fry boxes or other small container 2. scraps of ribbon 3.free printables from here and here 4.hot glue gun or other craft glue 4.snacks to fill the containers with
After you have assembled all the supplies it is time for the fun to begin. First I glued on the ribbon and followed that by the printable. This was so fast but I loved how they turned out. The final step was to fill the containers with yummy treats. I chose two treats to share with my loved ones. The first was a sugar cookie iced with royal icing. These have a great flavor and are a family favorite. They are a heavy, dense cookies that is a half sugar cookie and half shortbread. They are not as sweet as a traditional sugar cookie which is OK because when the icing is added it is cookie perfection.
Perfect Cut Out Cookies
3/4 cup of butter
3/4 cup of sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups of flour
1tsp of baking powder
1 tsp of vanilla
Mix the butter and sugar together and then add the eggs and vanilla. Mix the baking powder into the flour and then slowly add the mixture into the wet ingredients.
Royal Icing Recipe
- 1 box confectioners’ sugar (1 pound)
- 5 tablespoons meringue powder or 2 large egg whites
- water to consistency
In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine sugar and meringue powder. Mixing on low speed, add a scant 1/2 cup water. For a thinner consistency, usually used for flooding, add more water. A thicker consistency is generally used for outlining and adding details. Mix until icing holds a ribbonlike trail on the surface of the mixture for 5 seconds when you raise the paddle.
If you are in a hurry these do not have to be filled with decorated cookies. I fill some of the containers with gourmet popcorn that I purchased.
