I’ve been trying to think of great desserts for Valentine’s and when I think of Valentine’s I think of chocolate and strawberries. I found a recipe on All Recipes that I thought looked like it was to die for so I had to try it! I love Chocolate Mousse so I just couldn’t resist!

- 21 chocolate sandwiches, crushed
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 4 cups heavy cream
- 1 (12 ounce) packaged semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Generously grease a 9 inch springform pan with 2 3/4 inch sides.
- In a medium bowl, mix together crushed cookies and softened butter or margarine. Press mixture evenly into greased pan. Bake in preheated oven for 5 minutes, then allow to cool.
- Combine 1 cup cream, chocolate, vanilla extract, and salt, in the top of a double boiler. Heat until chocolate is fully melted and mixture is smooth. Alternatively, if you have a food processor, you can blend mixture by placing chocolate, vanilla extract, and salt, in processor bowl. Bring 1 cup cream to a boil on stovetop, then slowly pour cream into processor with blade running. Continue to process until mixture is smooth.
- Pour chocolate mixture into a bowl and cool to room temperature, stirring occasionally.
- In a large bowl, beat 2 cups chilled cream with 1/4 cup sugar. Beat until stiff peaks form.
- Fold whipped cream into chocolate mixture. Pour mixture into cooled crust.
- Chill pie at least 6 hours before serving.
- Prior to serving, beat remaining 1 cup cream with 1/4 cup sugar. Beat until stiff, then pipe onto top of pie with a star tip, or place a spoonful on top of each slice.
First I made my crust. I crushed up the 21 cookies and then put them in the bottom of my spring form pan and poured the butter over it. I had to kind of mix it up to distribute the butter over all the cookies. I then put this is the fridge to let it cool for a while.
While the crust was cooling I blended the chocolate, vanilla, and salt in my food processor. It didn’t really blend until I started pouring in the 1 cup of cream which I brought to a boil on the stove top. Once it was smooth I put it in a bowl to let it cool.
I then started making the whipped cream that goes into the pie. I mixed 2 cups of the heavy cream and 1/4 cup of sugar until it had the consistency of whipped cream. The recipe says mix until stiff peeks form.
I then started folding in the whipped cream to the chocolate mix and at this point it starts looking like a mousse.
I poured it all over my crust and smoothed it out. I then put it in the fridge over night.
In the morning I took it out and opened up the spring form pan to see how my mousse turned out!
I then made the rest of the whip cream and piped it on with a star tip. I added some strawberries to give it a nice look!
I love chocolate mousse and this recipe is simply divine! It would be a great dessert for Valentine’s and everyone will love it!

Thanks Pierre. The greenies here in the Phnepipiils like Greenpeace, WWF, etc., campaign so hard against coal, they have created thousands of fanatics who will personally attack anyone who supports a coal power plant here. In 2009, we were about 30% coal dependent, rose to 34% in 2010, and rose to 38% as of Sept 2012. Without those coal power plants, we would be back to daily power blackouts that we experienced in 1991-92.
That’s a mold-breaker. Great thinking!

wish I could say something to make you feel better. But it is almost like a person has to save for their own plan because the insurance industry is trying to offload all the risk back on the individual.Which was not really the idea of insurance.
That’s going to make things a lot easier from here on out.
Peacocks! I love anything with peacocks! Also, I haven't been by to comment because work's been busy, so I didn't know you were ill. Feel better soon, dear!

I still remember how it felt to lose my beloved dog over 30 years ago when I was in high school. We have two wonderful shelter doggies and I can’t imagine life without a canine companion (or two). Your new baby is so cute I could just eat her with a spoon.
