I have been haunting Goodwill again and recently found a black frame.  A couple of weeks ago I had found a burlap remenant at Hobby Lobby that I knew would be perfect with the  black frame.

I loved the dots printed on the burlap!

The burlap needed some color to make this project perfect.  I started to paint on the fabric but instead I asked a friend who has an embroidery business to monogram the fabric.  I love it!!

When I originally had this idea in my head I was just going to frame the fabric and use it as a decorative piece.  I have seen several magnetic boards on Pinterest and have been wanting to make one.

A trip to Lowe’s made making a magnet board really easy.  They had precut pieces of sheet metal and one was the perfect size for the frame.

The next step was to cover the sheet metal and put the frame back onto the frame.  Having a back was easy because all the raw edges are behind the backing.  It made my job easy.

As I was finishing this project the green color reminded me of St. Patrick’s Day.  I found some foam stickers and attached them to magnets to make decorative magnets.  This may end up being a present for someone who loves St. Patrick’s Day.

The finished product with the magnets. This was a quick and easy project that produced great results.

  1. You’re right! It is fun, and super cute! I made one, but did it differently, though I really like the idea of covering it with fun burlap! I can’t tell you how excited I was when I saw those pre-cut pieces of sheet metal at Lowes. I was brainstorming right there in the aisle!

I think it’s an excellent gift. Though I’d probably want to keep it for myself. Haha!
