I have some of my husband’s grandmothers silverware. It is not very usable so I have been thinking about repurposing it for the grandchildren. Most of the ideas involve skills or tools that I don’t have. Recently at a garage sale I found a spoon that had a hole drilled in it. I asked why and the woman said her son was going to make jewelry out of the spoon but never got farther than the hole. I was so excited because it had a engraved R on the handle. I took it home and cleaned it only to find out the letter was an A and not a R. Oh well, crafting goes on.
The first thing I did was glue on some jewels, left over from another project, onto the spoon. I only had three and it was just not enough. I glued them on with glass glue.
I remembered that I had a pin that I wear sometimes that would help bling up the spoon.
I did not glue the pin on the spoon. I just pinned it onto the spoon handle. This way I can still use the pin as an accessory.
I almost did not blog about this because it was so easy. Right now the spoon is adorning a cross in the living room. I like how it looks there, but its location may change soon. I am planning to adorn some other silverware and hang them in the dining room. I can’t wait to show you the other plans I have for all the silverware.
