Cranberry Therapy | Honesty's Protegee

I’m Deauna and I blog over at Honesty’s Protégée ( where I write about food, DIY projects, crafts and about my life in general with my husband, The Hero and my son, The Kid.

I’m stoked to be guest blogging on Craft Dictator! I found Cara’s blog in a Facebook group for bloggers and she soon became one of my favorite bloggers. Her projects were easy to make, didn’t require that I devote days to them and didn’t require a ton of supplies. I knew I wanted to be a guest blogger and here I am!

I was working on this recipe around Thanksgiving. I crazily volunteered to cook my first real Thanksgiving dinner about a week before the holiday. I didn’t realize how intense the whole process would be for The Hero, The Kid and me. No. idea. So Tuesday night, I needed something to bring me back from screaming ‘we’re having tacos!’

In comes this drink. It’s very simple: cranberry simple syrup and dry white wine. Depending on how much syrup you use, the taste ranges from a sweet tart wine to a glass reminiscent of moscato. And what makes it a great drink for the holidays is you can cater it to anyone’s tastes. For the dry types, 1 part syrup to 6 parts wine (oh yes… I’m very generous with the pour). For the sweet types, 3 part syrup to 4 parts wine. You can also use the syrup to make other mixed drinks during the holidays as well. For eye candy, freeze a couple of cranberries and use in place of ice cubes to keep the drinks cool.

Write a review
  1. 1 cup fresh cranberries
  2. 1 cup sugar
  3. 1 cup water
  4. 1 bottle pinot grigio, chilled
For the syrup
  1. Rinse the cranberries. Poke a small hole in each cranberry. Add to a medium saucepan with the sugar and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat and cook until the sugar is dissolved and the syrup is thickened and cranberries have burst, about 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and allow the syrup to cool to room temperature. Once cooled, strain the syrup, discard the solids and store in a glass container.
For the drink
  1. Pour 6 ounces of wine to a wine glass. Add 1 ounce of cranberry syrup. Add frozen cranberries for garnish.

  1. Sounds super yummy! Where would one find fresh Cranberries? I’d have to do it with Champagne because I can’t drink wine anymore.
