Pumpkin Delights | Craft Dictator


This week I wanted to try a recipe from Creative Southern Home!  Truthfully I can’t pass up anything with Pumpkin and Pecans and when I saw this recipe I knew I had to make it!  It was the best of both worlds!  The top is almost like a praline and the bottom is like a wonderful pumpkin pie!  It truly is a delight!  Here is the recipe:

  1. 4 eggs
  2. 1 15 oz can pumpkin
  3. 1 1/2 cups sugar
  4. 1/2 tsp salt
  5. 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  6. 1 13oz can evaporated milk
  7. 3/4 cup melted butter
  8. 1 box yellow cake mix
  9. 1 cup pecans, chopped
  1. Blend eggs and pumpkin
  2. Add sugar, salt and spices
  3. Add evaporated milk, blend well
  4. Pour into greased 9√ó13 pan
  5. Sprinkle Dry cake mix evenly over the top
  6. Spoon melted butter over the top of the cake mix
  7. Sprinkle Pecans evenly over the top.
  8. Bake at 350 for 70-90 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Cool and serve!

I followed her instructions pretty closely.

I mixed the pumpkin and egg together.  Then added the sugar, salt, and spices.  Then added the evaporated milk.

I poured it all into a 9×13 pan.

I then evenly put the cake mix on top of my pumpkin mix.

I evenly added the butter on top of the cake mix.

And then added the pecans on top of that.  I cooked mine for 70 minutes and it was perfect!  I then took it to our work potluck and everyone seemed to enjoy it!  I personally wanted to eat the whole pan!  This is a great holiday dessert to take anywhere you will be enjoying the holidays!

  1. This sounds super interesting, Cara, and I don’t think you could EVER go wrong with pumpkin anything… so this recipe is gonna be made in my home sometime soon. (I’m a sucker for seasonal dishes, and this still totally fits in with my needing to eat all kinds of pumpkin before it’s gone.)
