Our family is going to the beach for Christmas. I have had my eye out for a beachy, junky Christmas tree.
This is one I saw on Pinterest and really loved.
This is another tree I love.
Recently, when I was at a flea market in Winnie, Texas I saw some work of a local artist. I loved the Christmas trees she makes and had to have one. I loved the white boards and the weathered wood as the base. I appreciated that the tree “branches” are not the same, different widths adds interest.
The hardest part of blogging for me is the pictures. The words and creativity come easily but the photos are another matter. The staging of the photos is difficult for me also. I took a picture of this tree without any adornment and was not pleased. I placed a shutter from the garage behind it and was happier.
The next step in my staging of this pic was that I wanted the tree off the ground but not hanging on the wall. I have this tea cart that I thought would be perfect. The only problem was that the bottom shelf of the tea cart is missing and there is a piece of fiber board replacing it. I usually keep a folded quilt on that shelf but do not have a quilt is the right colors for my beach theme tree.
Another trip to the garage and I found this wonderful old suitcase that fits perfectly on the shelf.
I wanted the tree to have a base but did not have the right wood to build it. As I was looking for wood I thought a decoupaged tin would be cute. I got the tin I have been using as a pencil holder to see if it would work. I loved it. This is the post about decoupaged I wrote recently: http://craftdictator.com/2013/11/02/decoupage-redo/
The tree at night!
