Last week I made an occasional table to use around the house. This week I am getting ready for the holidays and realized that I could use a drink cart/tray in my dinning room. As usual it was off the garage I went. I found a drawer that someone gave me because they know I love junk and the base of a tall director’s chair that I bought at a garage sale for a dollar.
This is the base. I decided not to paint the base, but I may change my mind later.
This is my free drawer. I loved the raised wood on the front. The drawer had so many blemishes that I knew it was best to paint the beauty.
After both pieces were complete I bolted the drawer to the base.
The drawer looked too white on top of the dark legs. That inspired me to “line the drawer” with some great brown and white paper. I think it pulled the two together.
I like how the drawer lining pulls the white and brown of the legs together and makes the white look less stark.
I used Annie Sloan chalk paint and dark wax to finish the drawer.
The tray is the perfect size to serve drinks.
It is such a great size that it could be used for so many things.
I love how the dark stain brings out the details of the drawer.

I have a bunch of drawers sitting around from an old dresser that I just don’t want to re-do in its entirety. (Lazy, much? haha.) I don’t have a director’s chair, but I could add legs and make a table! I am already making little display boxes and shelves, but I have a TON of drawers, so I will definitely add table to my list! Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi there! Stopping in from Let’s Get Real. I just had to click in and take a look at your table. I host a Christmas Eve party each year and people move around quite a bit, but are always looking for a place to set down their drink. This table is the perfect solution. Off to my garage I go…………I wish it had all the stuff yours has in it. LOL! There must be something out there though.

This is such a clever idea! My husband likes to hang on to old… *cough*UGLY*cough*… pieces of furniture and kitsch from his family. I am feeling a bit inspired to make use of those dust collectors in storage. 😉
