I have need a small occasional table to use on the patio and also by the chair in the bedroom. Most of the time it would live in the living room by my reading chair. As I was trying to wrap my mind around what I needed I thought of a beach table I built during the summer. I would make the same table but attach a base to it. Finding a base was not easy. I wanted something cheap, easy and heavy enough to keep the table upright. Last Saturday at the Restore in Houston I found the perfect base.
It is a very small replica of a door. It must of been used for display purposes before it was donated to the Restore.
This is what I assembled to make this small table.
Below are the steps that I used for making the beach table. For this table I used the same steps except I added a base.
I screwed a piece of wood onto a spindle from the Dallas Restore. Then I glued and screwed the tray to the base I had made.
After adding the base then it was time to prime the whole thing. I could not get this pic without a kitty photo bombing it. Finally I got tired and took it anyway.
These are the fabrics in my bedroom. I wanted to decoupage the top of the table with paper that would blend into the bedroom color scheme.
This is a picture of the table I made last summer for the beach.

Such a creative idea. I never would have thought to create my own table…and some store would have gotten a chunk of my money. Thanks for sharing.

Hi! This look really simply and easy to construct. I am by no means a DIY person (I can barely put a toy together) but I actually think this is something I could handle. Thanks so much for sharing!
