Black and White Table

This cute, little beauty has had a hard life. When I got it it was missing a drawer. The drawer you see now is not the one it had originally.  It’s one original drawer, that I had waiting in the garage for over 6 months met a tragic end.  One night someone pulled too far in and the drawer will never be the same.  In a funk I threw the drawer away.  If you have followed some of my redoes you know I try to salvage everything.  So now I have a side table with no drawers and no shelves.  There was nothing under the drawers.  I do not have any pictures of it during the time because I was so heart broken over the loss of the one drawer that I gave up.  I was going to put in shelves, paint it white and donate it to a women’s shelter.  But as I got the planking put in I starting liking the project again.

I cut the shelves out of planks that were previously used.  I had bought them on speculation at the Beaumont Habitat Restore.
There is space between the planks, but I think I like the look.
After painting it then the question became what to do with it?

I bought a drawer at the Restore that I thought might fit. It did not fit perfect but it was not bad at all.

Now with my drawer in place the question was what to put on the other shelf.  I felt like the prince looking for Cinderella.  I brought every basket, bucket, container, etc. to the garage for a try-out.

Then early this week I was in Tuesday Morning and bought two containers for my closet.  When I got home I could not believe how well they worked with this piece of furniture.

I like the rustic look the shelves add to this project
Another look!

These containers have made me want to make some fabric baskets for additional storage. But that is another post…..

  1. I love this piece! I really need to work harder at convincing my hubby, that painting furniture is a good thing… he thinks wood is the only option… oh what that man doesn’t know 😉

I really like this with the drawer and then one basket, and the planks… love the rustic look!

    • If you are in the black and white decor mood wait till you see the quilt I have made to go in the bedroom with it. Black and white with only a splash of color!

  2. I love that you didn’t give up on this little banged up shelf. Instead, you restored, refurbished, and reclaimed it. It reminds me of what the Lord does for us. Yay!

  3. I love a good makeover. Your table looks wonderful. I think the colors are great because you can easily switch out a basket color and you have an entirely different look. I found you on What’d You Do This Weekend. If you have a few minutes, please drop by and visit me.

  4. I LOVE Tuesday Morning. I use to work at one when I lived in Texas. There is only a handful out there in Vegas so when I see one I try to remember where it is so I can go check it out. You did a great job on this night stand. I started G+ you so I can come back and check out the pallet bed. That is on my DIY list.
