So a while back my mom found this old Recipe box for me at a store for $1.50. I could hardly pass it up. I’ve always loved the idea of a recipe box. I never write down recipes and then when I want them again its always hard to find them. Everything was unused in this recipe box so it was perfect! But I decided I didn’t really like the outside. As a crafter though I know this can always be changed! So I decided to decoupage it! Here is the before!
I don’t think the recipe box was ugly it just really wasn’t my style! So then I took some maps my mom had brought me and started to decoupage them on.
It was really easy to decoupage this box, and it only took about half an hour! I forgot to take pictures of the steps because my hands were covered with mod podge. And this is how my box turned out!
I definitely like the way it turned out and I think it fits me a lot better than the other box! Thanks for coming by!

Hi Cara – I love that you used maps to cover the box! I really need to get all of my recipes better organized! This would be such a great gift, too! Thanks so much for the inspiration and pinning! Happy Monday!

That is part of the reason I wanted to redo this box so that I could get everything more organized! Thanks for coming by!
ooo really loving the look now! I love the map and the box is the perfect size. I recently re-did my recipe book, but I haven’t posted it yet… so fun! EMily
I’d love to see what you did with yours! I have an obsession with maps so it makes me happy when I look at it!
I prefer a recipe box too! What size is it? I couldn’t find a box to hold 5×8 index cards. I ended up buying an ugly plastic index card box. I typed all of my recipes and printed them on card stock then cut the paper to 5×8.

hmmm…truthfully I don’t know what size it is. It might be 5×8 though. That seems about right. I’ve been typing them up and printing them out and putting them on the little inserts that came with the box but card stock is a genius idea!
I don’t have a traditional recipe box, but I really should get one. I have recipes ALL over! Love the maps! Pinning.

Pinterest is my recipe box now
(I admit, I have a shelf full of Taste of Home magazines that I keep meaning to go through and pull out the pages of my favorite recipes to save space)

Yeah I think it makes it look unique! And it definitely fits better in my life now!
This is really cute. I’m such a mess when it comes to recipes, always going from one way of organizing to another a couple of months later. Hoping to find a system once that actually works.
