This weekend was my birthday weekend and I decided what I wanted to do was go do some crafting with my mama!!  We got a lot done on saturday and there will be lots of blog post to come!  I think the first thing I’m going to post about is some boxes we made!  Mom got the boxes and the maps we decoupaged them with at an estate sale for almost nothing.  Here are the boxes.

She found a 1975 national geographic book that was only $1!  So I took the binding off and start taking apart the pages so that it would be easier to decoupage with.  My favorite part of the maps was that Russia was still the USSR and all the maps of Berlin showed the Berlin wall.  It was neat!
I love maps and I love decoupaging so this was the best of both worlds for me!!  The boxes were a little complicated at times to decoupage because of some of the corners but I love the way they turned out!
Then I decided to take an idea from a blog I saw linked up on My Repurosed Life and put some chalk board cut outs to label them.  Check out the blog about it here!
I love the way they turned out and I can’t wait to figure out where I want to put them and what fun thing is going to go in them.  My mom will also be posting some of our projects from this weekend so check out her blog Obsessively Creative!!

I’m linked up with:
