I had a good friend of mine who I worked with retire back in August.  When I was trying to decide what to get him as a retirement present I thought it would be nice to make him a quilt.  He and his wife both like quilts a lot and I had many discussions with him about quilts.  I think the hardest part was trying to find fabric that I thought looked enough like a guy.  So this is what I came up with.  I used brown and tan and also a leaf looking pattern.  He hunts a lot and I thought about using camo but I just couldn’t get my head wrapped around it so I found this leaf pattern that I liked.  Here is the quilt after we got the top pieced together.  My mom helped me piece this quilt together since I wanted to get it done quick so I could quilt it.  It was a quick quilt to piece together because the blocks are so large.
This was also one of the first quilts that I did the actual machine quilting for and not just the top piece.  The machine quilting wasn’t perfect but he loves it.
I went over to his house last week and he had the quilt laying out on his couch and it made me excited that he was using it!  I liked this pattern a lot and it was really easy to put together quick.  I might have to revisit the pattern for another quilt.
