This was a repurposing idea I got from my mother and we worked on one weekend together.  Check out her blog at http://obsessiivelyandcreative.blogspot.com/ for more fun repurposed ideas!  She got these old cabinet doors at a restore we like to go to.  They were 50 cents a piece.  The first thing we did was to use wood filler to fill in the holes that were on the doors to give them an even look.
We then painted them using a white primer and then after this we used chalk board spray paint for the middle area.
We then painted around the edges with a different color and then our chalkboards were complete.  My mom embellished a couple of the ones that she gave out as gifts.
Here is my chalkboard in my apartment.  I love it because it gives me a place to write notes or things to remember.
Here is a before and after picture of my chalkboard!
